When I tried to switch between my mother's account and my own this morning, it sent me to the fast-user log on. We normally have it set to send to the Welcome Screen. I attempted to change this then restarted the computer.

When I restarted, the computer was in 640x 480 and would not go beyond 4-bit color. There are no other options under resolution or color. I don't know if this has anything to do with switching users necessarily. I'm also getting the mshta.exe error. I've run McAfee fully and also Spybot-Search&Destroy.

... is this a well known problem?

I would try a restore point. Some application might be stopping fast user but I never heard of setting it to fast user.

Thanks so much! Dad did restore... things weren't pretty around here for a little while before then. :)
