Hi,
Last night I tried to install a 19" Dell LCD monitor on my Dell B110 PC (which normally uses a 17" CRT Monitor).
After connecting the LCD monitor and booting up the PC nothing happens - other than a blinking yellow LED on the front of the PC.
I disconnected the LCD monitor and re-connected the CRT monitor and same results - no activity, just a blinking yellow LED on the front of the PC?
Any ideas on what happened and how can I fix this?
(I guess I was wrong thinking that monitors are interchangeable)
Thanks!

monitors are interchangeable. the only issue is what the video resolution is set to and the interface used.
Sounds like you lost your mainboard. Monitors shouldn't have anything to do with that.
Is this built into the mainboard video or a card? if a card open the case and reseat it. Perhaps it became loose and now is causing a short

Thanks for the tip.
I'll have to check and see if it's on the MOBO or separate card.
Thanks!
Any other suggestions welcome!

Was the computer shut off when you changed the monitors? If so, when you restarted did you see any startup screens before it quit?

Yes. The computer was turned off when I switched montiors.
When I powered it back up, absolutely mothing appeared on the monitor.

Yes, I considered that last night. I believe there is only one connector that will accept a monitor, but I'll double-check this tonight.
Still, I don't understand why this would make the PC not operate at all. When I try to boot it up, it's just dead quiet with no activity and only the yellow LED flashing.

The most likely reason is that you have a video card and the card was pulled loose from it's socket during the unplugging and/or replugging the monitor.

Aegis may be correct. Check that. Always power down both before you do any checks and remove and stored energy by using the power button a few times.
Might also have caused bios to switch back to onboard video if installed. Might check that.

Well...
I inspected the computer last night and found that the video connector was mounted directly on the motherboard.
So, based on Wanderer's comments and that this was an inexpensive 3-year old Dell, I ordered a new PC last night.
Thanks for your help.
