I had to run out to get a computer for my work and ended up getting Windows XP- home edition. I hate it and my network doesn't run properly. I installed the Professional version and I still don't like it. I'm going to install Windows 2000 but I have questions.
Basically, how can I fdisk the whole think and start over? Is it the same way as fdisking a windows 95 & 98 computer. I have all the drivers I need, I just need instructions on how to revamp the whole thing withougt messing it up.

Yep. A hard drive is a hard drive so new partitions remove all data. If you need any help, there is an illustrated step-by-step guide to partitioning and formatting (Visual Guide to Hard Drives) at www.techtony.com.

Hi Karen, Basically 2000 and XP procedures are the same. Boot the hated XP, then pop in your WIN2000 ROM disk. When the Install screen opens, opt for Install Windows 2000; of course do NOT choose upgrade; the key part is to choose Options instead of Standard Installation when you get to that screen, and you will have the option of fdisking/reformatting your harddrive. If you are happy with the partition setup you have, do not delete any partitions. Just choose to reformat with NTFS; that will destroy everything on the drive. When the format is finished, the install of WIN2000 will start automatically. You know your way from here.
