YES YOU CAN SWITCH FROM NTFS TO FAT32 SOOOO FREAKIN EASY... Let me tell you how to do it it took me forever to learn it ....
1. Start the computer by using the windows XP cd or the startup disks.

2. When the "welcdome to Setup screen in displayed, Press F10

3. In Recovery Console, Choose The Appropriate Installation and logon by using your Administrator password.

4. Typ "Map", and then press enter

5. Note the drive you want to format or reformat:

6. Type "format x:/fs:fat32, where x is the letter of the drive you want to format and fat32 is the file system you want to use.

7. type Y to confirm your choice and WALLLLLAAAAA YOU GOT IT :)

We never did say you could not switch. Of couse you can FDISK or Format the HDD. YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR DATA THOUGH IF YOU DO SO. You can not switch back to FAT32 via windows without loosing your data. You can only do it via a 3rd party program.

SO ONCE AGAIN, IF YOU TYPE FORMAT AND SAY YES TO IT, KISS YOUR DATA GOODBYE.

Later,

KTTD

agreed with kttd. we've always said that ntfs->fat32 is data destructive.

even with 3rd party software like partition magic, it's dangerous. If you forgot a file that's encrypted via ntfs, or if you lose your keys, etc...then you'll have a problem

I feel that converting NTFS back to Fat32 is like driving your car in reverse without mirrors! NTFS is far better than Fat32---learn how to use it's features. If someone wants Fat32, then go back to 98SE or "wonderful" ME, where Fat32 is king!
