I just upgraded to XP and have four issues to resolve:
1) Is there an XP shortcut that gives you the ability to switch users by making "each user" into a quick launch icon? Only my wife and I use our PC and it would be much quicker to click one icon, versus going thru the "start menu, logoff, and switch user" sequence. When I used to use Win 98, I had learned of a trick where I used one desktop icon to shutdown, and another to restart.
2) Sometimes when I switch users, the screen goes blank for about 10 seconds. Is this a known bug? Is there a fix?
3) I try to activate XP via the internet but the key seems to be invalid. I bought it at Compusa. Why can't I activate thru the internet?
4) Is there a way to disable that annoying indication in the start menu that a new program was just installed?

start>right click>properties>customize>advanced

MDK:
I don't have a windows keyboard. Can I create special desktop icons for each user? There must be a way.

You need a program called wizmo. I use it so I can shutdown, restart, logoff, eject/retract my cd burner. You can use shortcuts to do these things but I mapped them to the internet keys on my keyboard.
You can get wizmo (it's free) from here
