I removed a Mitsui 3.5 1.44 floppy drive and installed in another computer.
The drive was working in the old computer.
Now the green light stays on in the new computer. Cannot access media.
Drive seem ok in system manager.
What might be wrong?

Flip the cable on the drive end around that should work.

The cable is about 14 inches long. One end in the MoBo and the far end in the drive.
There is a connector midway. Some pins are reversed between the mid connector and the end in the drive.
If I swap the ribbon cable end for end won't I have the same thing. How about connecting the drive to the mid connector so there will not be a pin swap?

Just turn the connector connected to the drive over. This has happened to me so I know it works.

Do as suggested in post #3. A solid HD light means an IDE problem. Usually it is a cable improperly installed.

The floppy cable should have on one end a section reversed. That end goes to the drive with the cable pointing down. The other end goes to the floppy port on the motherboard with the cable pointing in the same direction as the IDE cables. If the light continues to stay on then the cable most likely is defective or is not a floppy drive cable. Replacements can be had for as little as a dollar at a repair shop.

I have reversed the end and even put a new cable in. Light now doesn't lite at all.

Installed the power cable Both ways no help except with the yellow wire toward the edge I can feel the drive motor runing.

When I try to access the drive I get the message to insert the media. Media in or out makes no difference.

I wonder if I screwed the drive up?
