Hello all you good people, guess what I have windows xp and ME. this wouldnt be a problem if microsoft knew what they where doing when the created windows. anyway thats not the point. If any of you have got windows ME and are wondering why its going slow its because SVCHOST.exe is called STIMON.exe. If you close eather of these programs windows works fine without sound in some programs... for the first 2 minutes then "Blue screen of death" and then if your lucky it will reboot your PC for you. If anyone knows any way of fixing these problems PLEASE TELL ME! It would also be nice of Bin Laden and the Taliban fly a plain into microsoft HQ and/or Bill Gates house or Bill is shot in the head like in southpark bigger longer and uncut so the whole software market is re-developed around Linux and Unix without the problem off getting hold of good games for the OS unless you like having to download BIG demos that dont work. Untill then we can live in hope that atleast one of the above will happen and im sure quiet a few people agree. anyway, I O U people a gud 5 minutes of time so all I can do is say thank you for reading and i'm sorry if I have offended anyone (unless in the microsoft familly) and also "THIS MESSAGE WILL SELFDISTRICT... UNLESS PROPERLY STORED" Thank you all, CYA .......DOWN WITH MICROSOFT.......

Hmmm... I agree with most of what you say.
But a bunch of Windoze newbies who have no experience with this 'Linux' or 'Unix' thing, and just can't accept it that M$ isn't god, are most likely going to start posting a lot of stupid messages soon.

I believe that "stimon.exe" is "still image monitor" Do you have a camera or scanner installed? If so change your settings so they do not open on startup.

Another brain-dead Microsoft basher. Good work. If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple. Stop wasting other people's time with stupid comments that don't achieve anything.

Frank,

I must disagree with you. It isn't as simple as you stated, "If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple."

The one thing that holds MAC back (a far better OS that is stable AND runs more efficiently with LESS CPU Cycles) -to include Linux- is what keeps MS up front...plainly stated..SOFTWARE.

MS is the #1 OS for PC use because consumer software is built around it, the availability and most importantly the PORTABILITY is global. You can't say that for every concievable software title for any other OS. Which is why every consumer pc is installed with a MS OS product.

Sure popular games like DOOM have been "ported" to Mac and Linux, but that's the problem, there has to be a market for the software. Have you ever tried to write a document in Star Office and open it with Word? Heck most ppl can't even transfer a document from Works to Word..etc.

AND therein lies the problem with MS. Because of this fact MS puts out sub-standard OS's because they can. NOT because it's such a wonderful OS, etc.

Microsoft isn't the software leader because of it's programming capabilities (Hell, MS-DOS was created by someone else!!) its because MS had one of the best marketing departments that started it all.

Please folks. Why does these debates always have to end up being af fight over which OS is best. I use both Mandrake Linux, FreeBSD, Win98 AND WinXP. Not on the same machine, but on my local netwrk. I like them all.

But the real issue here is this fellow computer user's problem. Now only one person actually replied to the actual question. The rest of you guys just went off about stuff that didn't really matter in this case.

Yes blazing MS like he did, and all that isn't any good, but going off into the pointless war isn't either... Now I have problems with SVCHost-exe, and would have liked to be able to perhaps find a solution here, but I guess nagging on about Windows/Linux and calling people newbies for choosing one or the other, was more important.

Think about it

Damn! I agree with Dalif. I came here looking for I N F O!!! I've used several OS's, and am far from a newbie. But I really don't give 2 s---s about all your opinions about which OS is better. THE QUESTION STILL REMAINS!!! WTF is the deal with svchost?! I'm now pwrying for all you pretentions, concieted, insecure tech nerds to suffer a horrible virus so you have to reformat ALL you comps. Jeez.
