I have a virus and I can't get on the web. I want to reformat my hard drive and use firefox instead. I want to go from DOS to the web. Can I do this?

Not likely.

What you could do is, reboot into "Safe Mode with Networking Enabled" and then run an online antivirus scan and get rid of the virus.

Mind you, if you're going to reformat and reinstall, why not do that first, and then go surfing......

I believe there are DOS browsers. The DOS forum would seem the natural place to ask.

All kinds of help info and applications for surfing the web in DOS..

For a good browser for DOS, I recommend

Get a friend (or yourself after you do a clean install) to burn you a live cd. They don't get virus's and never get hacked that I know of (yet)>.

Lynx and I think Arachne work in dos, Firefox will not.

The reformat clean install and text browser will not prevent a virus.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, are in my top 10

Mechanix2Go.

Good day to you to!
How true that is! but when you are retired the only thing you worry about is if the Government is going to allow your retirement fund to be jacked around with and redistributed as well as the working class's paychecks...LOL
