Hi, I had set a supervisor password for the CONTENT Advisor in windows explorer. Now I forgot the password. And I can not make any changes to the setting of the CONTENT Advisor. Is there anyway I can reset this password without any trouble.
It was responded to with these instructions, I just don't know where to start. Can someone help me?
1) Type in RegEdit and select OK.
2) Now click on the little plus sign to the left of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
3) Continue to expand down, always clicking on the plus sign at the left of the named key, through Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version and Policies.
4) Now click on the Ratings folder.
5) In the right pane of the RegEdit window, you'll see an icon called Key. Click on it and press Delete.
6) Next, choose Registry and then Exit to exit RegEdit. You've just deleted your original Content Advisor password.
7) Restart the computer and run Internet Explorer again.
8) Choose View and then Internet Options
9) Click on the Content tab and click on Disable. When asked for a password, don't enter anything; just click on OK. This will disable Content Advisor because there's no longer a password.

Seems like pretty straightforward instructions to me. I don't know if they'll work, but what are you stuck on? The instructions are very clear as to what Reg value you need to change.

According to this link that speaks of the infamous Content Advisor:
If you forget your content advisor Supervisor password (used to enable the ratings) there is no way to disable the ratings again, not even by uninstalling and reinstalling IE.
Sorry about that :-(

Cheers... there may be light coming at the end of the tunnel...
If the supervisor forgets the password, he cannot change the Content Advisor properties in the regular way. The simplest way to solve this problem is to delete the password in the Registry. The password is stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Ratings. The "Key" value represents the encrypted password. If the registry scares you... go HERE to get Content Advisor Password Remover.
