Sudden restart installing VS .NET

Without fail, my computer suddenly restarts when I try installing Visual Studio .NET. I put the cd in, it starts the autorun, at which point the computer restarts.
I used to have Easy Cd Creator 5 installed and tried uninstalling that (i read that that was causing sudden restarts), but it didn't work. But now the computer suddenly restarts when i try installing THAT again!
I also tried unchecking the automatically restart box, but it changed nothing.
