sudden change xp pro to xp home

Without warning or any known reason my computer suddenly thinks it is operating as xp home after successfully performing as an xp pro for many years. All updates other than SP3 are installed. Any one know why and how to reverse?

Go to My Computer and right mouse click and select properties.

Windows XP Home, ver. 2002 SP2 That's what it says now; but for over six years it has functioned (properly) as installed: XP Pro. Why? Can it be put back?

Only way that can happen is if someone installed Home over Pro in an mistaken attempt to fix windows.
Do you have teenagers in the house?
You would need to pull out your xp pro cd and do a repair install/upgrade of xp to change the OS.
