Stupid Memory Upgrade Question

Comment:
I just purchased memory upgrade for my IBM 600E Thinkpad. My stupid question is that if I change the cards (ie replace the old card with the new card), will I lose anything I saved to the old memory/hard drive? Your speaking with a computer novice here. Thanks

If you're just changing memory then you won't lose any thing that is saved on your harddrive. Memory is used to TEMPORARILY load stuff so that it can we used (when you boot Windows is loaded to the memory).

Jay, you won't loose anything when you upgrade your memory. When you turn your computer off everything in the memory (RAM) is erased anyway. all of the permanent information is stored on the hard drive, so there's no need to worry.
