Hello,
I'm in the process of intalling WinXP Pro 2535, but I have a problem, of course. I get this fatal error on the GUI stage of installation. It tells me--"manifest parse error: invalid top level of a document" . I really don't know what this means. Any help out there? thanx

Seem to have found the problem. I have a bad/corrupted controls.man file. I'v burned the iso twice using two programs and still bad. I believe the iso is bad. Anyone have a good controls.man file to share? ...where is this anyway?

I had same problem. What burn software are you using. Recommend Adaptec EZCD. If you are using Nero you need to set the correct burn options for it to burn correctly or just use EZCD. As I said before I had the same problem, I used EZCD and it worked like a champ. If you need the controls.man file I can send it to ya, But try the other burn option first.

just had to write back.XP is now installed thanx to easy cd creator 5 platinum (warez of coarse)Nero will no longer burn any iso's.(i always use wincdr for bin+cue files by the way and not tried wincdr for this iso)I cant believe that this is the same file that i burnt with nero, the nero version let me get about 10 to 15 mins into install too.By the way XP took me about an hour to install (win 98 took only 25 mins)Xp looks good so far but only had it for 30 mins or so.Why were there no posts for September I wonder,if u dont reply and only look how do we mortals find out info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Devilsown ISO is good but not to ISO9660.
Many ISO burn progs require proper ISO9660.
Use ISOBuster to extract files from image.
Burn all files back to a CD using whatever.
CD will now be good, but not bootable.
Can be made bootable, go search.

I got the DEvilsown iso, used Nero to burn it and it stopped at the gui install part too (I/O error)! I'm now going to try both burning the iso using ezcd, and extracting it first... if I don;t reply, then at least one of these worked! Cheers guys, i was worried sick for a while. thought my pc was bolloxed. I'm kinda glad other peeps have had the same trouble.
