I am running XP. I was trying to reinstall windows after i had just forced it to go into safe mode by changing the winconfig to safeboot.
It kicked out because it cant do the windows install in safe mode, but keeps booting up in safe mode.
Neverending loop...
Please help!!!
Thanks

I'm not familiar with Aopen boxes, but I don't think you should have to boot XP to do an install. Can't you boot from the Aopen CD to do that?

You can't install Windows from within Windows. You need to boot to the OS CD and install properly.
Life's more painless for the brainless.

check if you have any of this checked...

I dont have any of this checkboxes checked.

if you are trying to get out of safe mode just do the winconfig and uncheck the box next to safeboot under the boot.ini tab
antibot215

Help! I am having a similar problem. Somehow, there is a virus on my computer. I scanned adn then turned off system restore and attempted to load up Safe Mode to re-run the scan.
We have Novell Netware on our computers here at work so what I didn't know, is that I am prevented from accessing Safe mode with Novell. Everytime I click Cntl/Alt/Delete to enter my username/password, it gives me the black screen (with safemode in the 4 corners) and a cursor, but nothing else. The only way out (that I can find) is to use the power button to shut off.
In order to circumvent, I tried to force into safemode by running msconfig and telling to go to /safeboot in the boot.ini tab.
Unfortunately, that didn't fix my problem and now my computer will only start in safe mode, and I am unable to get back to normal windows mode b/c of the issue mentioned above (novell screen)
Any idea on how to fix this?
I'm at my wits end!
