Hey all.
I have a machine running windows XP professional edition. All it does is it plays MP3s (using Windows Media Player 10.0). I control it using Realvnc(great program btw).
I leave it running and it plays my music all through the day. I want to be able to listen to my music remotely as well. So I guess the best option would be a streaming audio server.
What I want is something that will easily(and without cost) integrate with Windows Media Player and will stream to a client whatever is currently playing.
I think Microsoft has a streaming Audio server, but I do not know if it is available for XP?
Any thoughts, helps, hints ideas.
Thanks
David

I think that Windows Server 2003 has streaming media services built in, but that would be overkill (in reguards to price).
One option is a new program called Audigen by Red Chair Software. However, instead of streaming what the server is currently playing, users can select the tracks, albums, or playlists that they want to have streamed to their computer. It is web enabled so you can connect to it internally or externally. THe full program costs only about $15, but there is a free trial version that you can try out. I used a similar program of theirs for my Creative Nomad and am very happy with it.
Go here to get more information and to download the trial.

I got my hands on a copy of Windows 2000 Advanced Server. My place of work has more licences than machines installed, so I can use one of them.
Thanks a bunch.
