I would like to stream videos to my sister's house through the net, but I am not sure how to get started. I looked at VLC, forget it! She'll never be able to set that up to receive it. I am looking for something straightforward and hopefully not a service where I am required to upload my videos first. I would like to host the videos right from my computer. I figured this is the place to ask as the members here have never failed me yet. Thanks!

You have to use a very fast connection both uplink and down if you want any kind of quality. DSL may require a bit of compression.
What you need is to make a server of some type. Apache, iis, xitami and others.YOu have to configure a way to get the two computers to actually communicate. Ports, ip addresses, firewall issues.
Then you have to at least give here an address to access that file.
Might look at popular messenger services and torrents instead. Opera browser supports torrents. MS messenger at least used to allow file access, and even remote desktoping.
I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Thanks jefro for the reply. I think I'll just give up on this dream for a while as it seems that it may be too complicated for me to do it the way I want too. Thank you again.
