Alright I have 3 computers all hooked up through a router. The two newer systems use XP and the older one uses 2000. Just the other day my brother replaced his computer with a new and used the network setup wizard to get himself onto the internet instead of filling in the specific values.

Ever since then he has had no trouble at all with the internet. However now the other two computers cant stay connected for more than two or three minutes at a time. A couple people suggested a DHCP server was running on his computer and was conflicting with the other two. I cant find any options for DHCP in the network folder and the other two computers work fine when his is turned off.

Any ideas???

By the way I filled in the values for his dns and ip address so there isnt a conflicted ip.

hi

if you want to find out if the dhcp service is running, you wont find it in the network folder, go to control panel, administrative tools and services, u will see dhcp client, if it is set to automatic, right click and go to properties, then you can change the values to manual
