Strange User Profile Problem

Original Message

Subject: Strange User Profile Problem
OS: XP Pro
CPU/Ram: 3.4
Model/Manufacturer: Dell
Comment:
As of recently, my user profile does not show up in C:\Documents and Settings\. However, I know its there because when I open the My Documents folder and see the path in the address bar, it says C:\Documents and Setting\username\My Documents. The folder size of Documents and Settings shows the correct size also. My computer is joined to a domain and it is not set for roaming profile. This problem just started and everything was fine for the last 3 years I have been using this computer. Any ideas?

Two guesses:
1) It's hidden, and you don't have View hidden files and folders selected.

2) An admin has played with the C:\Documents and Settings folder, removing your ability to view the contents of said folder.

It's not hidden and I am the admin.

Yeah, so you check the folder's permissions.

Permissions are fine. I am currently logged into that profile. Start > Run > c:\documents and settings\username gets me into the profile. I know it is there it just doesn't show up when I user Explorer and go to Documents and Settings.
