When i opened my computer early this morning, it gave me an error message (which, luckily, i din't even bother to read. lol) and it gave me options whether to Start Windows Normally or Restore Previous blah blah i can't remember. I chose to start it up normally but after showing the XP logon, it suddenly shut down! I restarted my computer again and chose the other option, the same thing happened. The next time i restarted it, i chose Safe Mode. It gave me a message like "restore the previous working setting" which i cancelled. It restarted again and that time i was able to login in my user account and open some files but after a while, it suddenly shut down again! I opened it again and did the same thing, the same thing happened. I can only stay logged in for a while and then it will shut down! I don't know what happened! The last time i used my computer was just last night when i played a pc game. Anyone encountered this problem and was able to solve it? Or is there anyone who knows how to deal with this problem? Any help is greatly appreciately.

First off try to do a systen restore to the previous day before it started to act up.
R click on "my computer" icon and select "properties" then select "system restore' tab and select to restore to previous date. when the calendar opens slect yesterdays date and press enter and let it restore to that date.
See if that fixes it for you.
Personally I think that it may be heat related and that you need to open the case and check to see if all the fans are working and that they are not all clogged up. Get a can of compressed air and blow them out especially the fans above the CPU and in the back of the PSU.

Thanks for your advice. I will do it as soon as i get home! :)

I do think it could be because of heat too. The computer had been running almost the whole day for a week now and where it is situated now can hardly have good air movement. Problem is i don't know how and is afraid to open it, lol. I'll try to do the first one first and will post here if it'll work. Thanks again pal as i really need to use the computer now! :)

Depending on your PC, I have a Gateway and there is only one screw at the back and a downwards pushbutton. On other styles of cases I have found 4 screws on the the back.
I would make sure that your PC is UNPLUGGED when removing the side and if you put your hands into the case, make sure you touch the metal on the case, so that you don't set off a static charge while inside of it. Then you can examin the parts. I would then blow the dust off the fans using compressed air that you can buy almost anywhere, Walmart, etc.

Good luck
