Hi,
When I open "services.msc" from the Start / Run box, I find some strange "services" listed there. They are all disabled, but I would like to remove them from the list if possible, since most of them point nowhere in their properties sheet. These are the services I am referring to:
BNKXCV (No description) (No state) Disabled Local System
MLXAAY (same as above)
VLATK (same as above)
XM (same as above)
PICESZXCU (this one points to
C:\DOCUME~1\(my name\CONFIG~1\Temp\PICESZXCU.exe)When I right-click and look at the properties sheet of these services, they have no route to any executable file, except for the last one in the list above.
I have emptied that temporary folder (and all other temporary ones), and have run Ad-Aware, Spybot, Windows Defender, AVG Antispyware (formerly called
Ewido) and I use NOD32 antivirus, performing weekly full scans of the system, as well as online scans throguh Trend-Micro's website and Kaspersky. Nothing strange has been found so far.Does anyone have an idea what those rogue service names may refer to? Also, I would like to know if it is possible to remove those names from the "services.msc" window.
There are no references to such names either in the registry or in any folders.
Thank you for any hints anyone might offer.
Juan

Use Ccleaner and ATF cleaner to clean out excess files. Then D/L regscrub http://www.majorgeeks.com/download....
and clean up the registry. Let us know how you make outHopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

In regedit do a search for bnkxcv eventually it will lead you to a key(little folder) inside of a key called services. Delete the key in which you find the bnxcv reference. Do the same with the others.

Thank you so much, guys!
The items have just been removed through the registry.
Now I think they were leftovers of some hard-to-remove spyware I had about three months ago. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting back. Are you saying that regscrub worked for you?
Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I did use regscrub, but I first did a manual search by running "regedit" from the "Run" box.
Afterwards, I downloaded and ran regscrub. It found over 50 problems (56 if memory serves), so it was really useful even though I had already deleted what I originally wanted to get rid of.Thanks again! :-)
