Okay... I am getting two annyoing pop-ups. They are not related with eachother in any way so I will make it clear when I switch to talking about the other problem...
---
First of all... I am having trouble locating the source of this annoying advertisement pop up for some stupid web cam site. The pop up occurs just about once a day and it doesnt matter if IE Explorer is running or not. It looks like any regular window (not an internet window) and it only has an Okay option or the [X] button in the top right corner... I can not seem to find out where the hell its coming from! Ive run Adaware and McAfee anti virus. Both have been unable to isolate or even identify what is causing the pop up. Any ideas? I was thinking of looking for some kind of log program so I can match the time of the pop up to a record in a log in order to isolate the cause but thats just a thoery and I wouldnt know what program to use...

---SECOND PROBLEM- UNRELATED

Second problem... What the heck is XtreamLok or Xinstall? I do web and graphics editing and when I try to view a folder in thumbnail mode that has a lot of Jpeg's, I get an error...

"XtreamLok Alert
DLL loading problem
or
Debugger Detected
or
Integrity Violated"

A second error window accompanies it..

Xinstall software error

Information:
xInstall.DLL version 1.2.0.3228
Filename: C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe
Vendor: 00000065
Product: 00000055
SKU: 00000090

Error Code:TS2C59R4
An error has occured. Please report this information to the vendor.

The error code is never the same but everything else is...I cant figure it out. Any ideas?

Hi.
Problem #2 I dont have a clue...
Problem #1 disabling messanger in services will get rid of the popups. It is not the msn messanger; it is for sending messages across an office type network. You will not miss it.
To get there...need admin rights, control panel> admin tools> services> scroll to messanger, highlight it and stop service, then click on properties ( in the row of icons at top of services window). Another window pops up, click on dropdown window under startup type, select disable> ok> ok.
Likely have to reboot.

just found couple links for the first prob....(mabye)

http://xibios.free.fr/english/xinstall.html

for the xinstall.

http://www.bsaa.com.au/smi/security.cfm?subID=2&SMIid=10

for the xtreamlok.
xtreamlok looks like some kind of antipiracy software, and xinstall looks like the installer for an office program.
I got these links from google search.
Hope this helps some.

WOW! Very helpful, blender. Thanks... by the way, these message boards have some kind of advertising script or something? Dont tell me its MORE spyware etc! I see words on this message string like PRODUCT and NETWORKING are underlined and linked to some 3rd party sites...
It only seems to be on this message board though so, heh.

Well I will certainly be looking around these boards more often. More help here than from Microsoft. Sheesh.
I did some thinking and found out the cause of problem 2! I recently uninstalled the demo version of Jasc Paint Shop Pro8 after the trial ran out but for some reason the file association changed to the wrong program when I uninstalled it. I changed the .jpg file association to Microsoft Photo Editor and everything is working fine.

Glad to see all worked out very well.
Ya those underlined words are for 3rd party ads. guess thats partly what pays for the site...You might sometimes notice too that if you don't wait for the page to load completely when posting you get all kinds of script in the message box and you have to retype your post. i think alot o fthe other posts you have to pay for...therefore no ads are integrated in the posted messages. I asked the same thing not too long ago..lol.
