Description of the Safe Mode Boot Options in Windows XP
Always good to do that when problems happen. Also to say, you should get more RAM.
XP uses all of, at least, 128MB to run properly,
and works better. Then you need more than that
for running other programs. Try 256 or 512 more.

Are you trying to open picture files? ...or are they 'shortcuts' to picture files?
If they're shortcuts, then maybe the original pics have been moved or deleted.
Right click on the pics (one at a time) and select properties. This will show the file size, a shoetcut will only be 500 bytes or so.
Hope this helps.

I think I know which error ira means, I presume it's the one which goes something like
D:\NAME-OF-FILE cannot be accessed because it is no longer there or it's on another drive or network etc. etc.
There is no wording in the bar above the message itself so you can't see WHAT exactly is trying to access the message.
This msg drove me nuts yesterday. It appears to comes from a link (.lnk) and happened to me yesterday when I deleted a file from my external drive after saving the file to CD - I still kept getting dozens of error messages on the screen when I opened the trash.
So I cleared out the trash, put the CD with the file on it into the disk drive, browsed a moment, took it out again, cleared the trash again, cleared any Norton Protected stuff and then it stopped.
In any case a reboot usually clears up the problem if it's the message I'm thinking about.
