Hello guys,
I am experiencing Internet disconnections at about every 5 minutes after I turn on my PC.I am connected to the Internet via a LAN and I am using the "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server automatically" settings in my TCP/IP options.
I don't know my real IP address - this is how my ISP set the things up and everything was working just fine. Untill now.Funny thing is that every time I get disconnected, I just restart my PC and after the fresh restart I have an Internet connection again. But only for another 5 minutes. Then I get disconnected again.
There is a DC++ hub accessible from my ISP's LAN only. I have full time access to it even when I don't have Internet connection.
In other words, my LAN connection is working while my internet connection is not. What is causing these annoying disconnections and how can I troubleshoot the problem?
Also, in case that you cannot help me, please at least tell me how to refresh my connection every 5 minutes without having to restart the whole machine.
I tried "Disable" on the connection icon in the tray but it was impossible to disable and/or shut down the connection. it stayed active but no internet... :(Help, please
See you in 5 minutes :)Thanks!

Thanks jefro, it worked.
I saw what the problem was in Event Viewer and then installed a patch to fix it.

Ooooops, whe have the same problem again.
I checked Even Logger and it reported this:
"TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts."So, I found a patch on the net that allowes more than th default 10 concurrent connect attempts allowed by Service Pack 2.
I used the patch and increased their number to 99. Had temporary success. Then it all begun again.Seems that patching SP2 was only a temporary solution.
The 5 minute disconnections are back again. :(I contacted my ISP and they were unable to locate the bug in their servers and network. They said that the problem was all mine and that I have to resolve it on my own.
Nice guys, indeed.
So, I am in deep trouble again.
Your help and advice is needed.
Thanks!
