Have any of you experience this strange Windows behavior?
I have arranged the desktop icons in a way that suits my "eccentric" preference - I placed some on the top right corner, others lower right corner and still others left lower & top corners.
When I restart the PC, the icons remain the way I set it. But if I turn off the PC and then boot it up, all the icons are flushed to the left. However, I am able to get back my old preference simply by restarting Windows.
Is this how Windows work - forgot my preference on cold startup but remember it on restart?

XpUser, I've really never messed with my icons but if you want go to the link below and download layout.zip
http://www.pcnineoneone.com/tweaks/layout.zip
After you have downloaded the file, extract its contents into a folder. Open the folder and double click LAYOUT.REG to merge the information into your registry. Now copy the library LAYOUT.DLL to your Windows\System32 directory. To save your current desktop icon layout, right click on the Recycle Bin or My Computer on your desktop and select Save Desktop Icon Layout. To restore your previous desktop icon layout, right click the Recycle Bin or My Computer and select Restore Desktop Icon Layout.

Thanks for the suggestion, Tufenuf. I am still wondering why Windows behave this way (not remembering then remembering something).
