Strange buzzing noise

My computer makes a strange noise, like a fly buzzing for a second, then it sounds like something swats and it stops...ANY idea what it could be???

Sounds suspiciously like a fan problem. Something might be interfering with the blades.

Not sure what you mean about the signature, i don't use one...and it's not the fan, it's not coming from the tower at all.
