Hi, I have recently bought an Nvidia g-force FX 5200.
I cannot install the driver from the cd because windows self installs its own driver (or my previous 440 driver), and to be honest everything is way too big.
I have tried all the options of reducing the size, but it's still too big. even if i choose a tiny tiny resolution the close button is still like half inch square in size.
How do I stop xp from installing the drivers, and let me use the cd that came with my new card?
Many thanks for your time.

You can easily change the driver that's being used. Just install the software from the CD.
Life is more painless for those who are brainless.

thank you jennifer, but I have tried that, and all the resolutions are the same. however, when i try the same card downstairs on the main pc, there is no problem (alas when i tried to use dualview, all the windows shifted to the tv, and as it didn't work, i have no way of putting the monitor back as primary lol. a different problem there)
thanks for the idea, but that didn't work sob.

Don't install the driver from CD.
Goto www.nivida.com and get a driver from there, it will self install for you.

Thank you all for your help. I downloaded the driver from nvidia.com, but the problem remained. after some head scratching, I decided to mess with the dpi settings (found it was set to a high setting", and lowered the dpi. this fixed the problem, and now everything is hunky dory.
Many thanks to all.Do you think booting in safe mode will fix my problem with my main pc downstairs? As stated, i applied a dual screen, and windows shifted over to the tv. now it didn't work, i have a black screen on the tv, and seeing as windows is over there, everything runs in that screen, and cannot switch back to using the monitor as primary.
I suppose theres nothing to hurt by trying lol.
Thanks again all.
