Specs: Windows XP
neither of the fixes/circumstances shown in the forums apply to me...I recently used comodo system cleaner to get rid of a bunch of duplicate pic and jpeg files...when I restarted the ''blue screen'' occured. How can I get this resolved?

Keep tapping F8 when you first boot up–you should have the option of choosing Last Known Good Configuration. You could also boot in Safe Mode and see if you can undo what Comodo did, or try system restore.

I tried booting in safe-mode...It went good until the point the user login page would normally appear. The timing of the blue screen popping up is the same under both normal and safe-mode boot up. After I posted my question, I was trying to boot up from a different version of xp using my xp home cd...found that my cd/dvd rom is removed from the device boot options...I am really in a pickle here...I believe the only way to a resolution is cmd prompt route.

A little bout me so you know, I have just finished courseware for comptia A+. I am in the process of setting up my testing and also taking courseware for tech aspect of the cert.

This is my home computer and of course my wife is looking at me funny cuz Im the computer literate one...thanks for any help you can give.

O.K. back to the issue. I have looked through a lot of similar error messages and haven't found one that has a fix for me...most refer to the generic safe mode, last known...but I have blue screen still in those boot options, so they won't work for me. I am unsure what to do at this point.

thank you,
Dennis Hill
