Please help.
When I start my computer the welcome screen to choose which account to open is not there
My comp starts up by automatically logging into my account. I have other accounts on the computer, and mine has a password. I have the welcome screen enabled, and I think I've tried everything. In order for another account to log on (if the comps off) you'd have to turn on the comp which loads my account not requiring a password, log off my account (or switch user) and log into "yours". But to get back into mine you have to enter the password. ??makes no sense???
Please Help me get the welcome screen (log on screen) back up and running. I've been using XP for a long time and this is the first time I've had this problem! I do not want to re-format!

Add a new string value named 'AutoAdminLogon' and set it to either '1' to enable auto logon or '0' to disable it.
Note: You can bypass this function by holding down the SHIFT key during the boot or logoff process.Note: It is also important to note that if the DontDisplayLastUserName value is enabled "1", the auto logon feature does not function.
Registry Settings
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
Value Name: AutoAdminLogon
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: (0=disable, 1=enable)

Did you install powertoys? Someone else did maybe? XP Powertoys is the easiest way to enable/disable autologin. You can choose any login to load or disable the feature to resume using the "choose user" splash screen.
You can get powertoys HERE. You want the TweakUI tool which is displayed on the right side. That is of course if you do not have it installed already.
To use the tool just browse to Start|Programs|TweakUI (Don't know for sure what the name is here, I'm at work and cannot remember for sure but it should be under Programs). Once you open the tool look on the left for a option for AutoLogin(I believe it is toward the bottom, but again I do not a reference in front of me currently). Click on the option on the left and set the parameters on the right.
Good Luck

Control Panel,
User Accounts,
click "Change the way users log on or log off",
I beleive both items needs a check.

The easiest way:
start>run>control userpasswords2
check "users must enter a name and password to enter this computer"
