Subject: Stop asking me to upgrade to WMP11OS: xpCPU/Ram: 512Model/Manufacturer: pentium4 |
Comment: I have WMP10 installed and am quite happy with it. I also have Nero installed. Wmp constantly asks me to upgrade to WMP 11 when I upgrade it tells me that Nero is no longer compatible with WMP11. Well I didn't want WMP11 in the first place so back to WMP10 I go. But of course there is no option of turning off the updates. So you are asked to update to WMP again and again. Does anyone know how to turn this off once and for all. It is annoying! Thanks Teabag

Reply: (edit)If you click the "tools" menu, then "options" the settings for windows media player will open. Click the "player" tab at at the top you should see an option for how often you want it to check for updates. -Ryan Adams http://RyanTAdams.com

Reply: (edit)I'd like to stop the Windows Media Configuration Manager from popping up and telling me that there is a Windows Media update available. Way back when, I thought that popup meant that there was an update for WMP10. Yea, there was as I found out that it was WMP11 which I didn't want.

Reply: (edit)Disable the update notification and/or auto update. Right click on My Computer and select properties> automatic updates. You can make changes there.

Reply: (edit)There are no automatic updates listed under my computer except for security and wmp does not make that offer. Nowhere to disable that feature for WMP on windows xp. Thanks Teabag
