Comment:

I would like to control / stop the use of all "Instant Messaging" on my home PC. I just want to have full access to the Internet (IE Explorer) / E-mail (Outlook), while preventing the use of AOL / Yahoo / etc. Instant Messaging.

I've read the postings on disabling Windows Messenger, Messenger Service, etc. and this has prevented / blocked "annoying pop ups", but still have not been able to read anything on "disabling" AOL & Yahoo IM functions.

Thanks for any help.

MC

Two ideas... change the Host name in the messenger service so that it cannot function (it can always be changed back), or use a firewall and deny web access to the messenger service.
