Hi.I've read forums and sites for hours about similar error codes and the best I can come up with is hardware issues.I am using a Nividia GeForce3 Ti 4600 128Mb Card and there are said to be issues with corrupted drivers but i've tried both updating it and rolling it back with no results.I get the blue screen and restart all the time.It started during intense games, but progressed somehow until it does it on the desktop!!
This is bad.The exact code I received was
STOP 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x00000010, 0xF3E14DAC, 0x00000000)
there was no text description of the error such as "KERNEL ERROR" or whatever, and no specific device mentioned that caused the problem.ALso, it did not mention any particular .sys or any other file which would cause a conflict.Any help would be extremely appreciated.

You may be able to get more info from the Event viewer .

Ever wondered what Error(312) means ? Look it up with this, or have it list all the errors your operating system is able to give. Also good for programmers who need to throw a specific system error. Go to Software menu.

Thanks for the reply.I tried the event viewer too and found similar errors that all mentioned hardware issues(at least if they weren't during setup). That's how I came up with the graphics driver theory, but after updating, rolling it back, and updating once again, I have changed absolutely nothing. It USUALLY only crashes when I am configuring my display(whether the monitor or TV is the main screen) or during games, but sometimes it will crash during an email or text file even.I know it gave it a system ID but the site did not have the exact same code, and I didn't modify the hardware acceleration either, which is one of the major threads on microsofts help site.I don't think their help site is going to solve the issue although it's given me some theories.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it didn't help.I guess my monitor has no problem displaying at 75 or even 85hz but perhaps I should give a little more depth as to the details of my setup.I have a 19" monitor set at 1024*768 and a secondary display TV Out set at 800*600(the maximum for it).THe refresh rate for the monitor is 75hz and for the TV is 60Hz(Maximum for it)
This has been configured this was for a LONG time and I have never had any issues.I don't think it's a refresh rate issue, but it may have something to do with the .dll's that the driver calls upon. However I've tried both the newer and older drivers with no luck.

I also want to add that I returned to the site maybe 20 minutes after posting before, logged in and crashed AGAIN!!!And got a COMPLETELY different error code. This time it was 0x0000007f (0x0000000d)[the rest were all 0x00000000]
I'm getting pissed and I'm tempted to just reinstall windows but last time I tried I had issues there too.I think the disc is scratched maybe.THen again after reading about similar errors, there were people who said they have re installed 4 times and it's made no difference.THe microsoft site is SO helpful that when you type in the error code it comes up as SYSTEM ERROR.ANd for the required user actions, it actually said "NONE".Can you believe that???So I'm not supposed to do anything and just let it crash all the time, every few minutes sometimes.I'm fed up with microsoft, both as a company and their website.I've looked on Google and couldn't find the same error code either.

Check the stop errors at htttp://sft-cyber.com These may not solve your problem but at least give you a place to start.

I also experience the same problem. When I'm playing knight-online, within 5min to 3hours, the game will automatucallty shut down on its own, else I'll see a blue screen of death message complaing on STOP 0x0000008E and the file it reports upon is not always the same, one time it is a nvidia driver file.

I read from many links in google, it mentioned about installing the latest graphic card driver which I did but it still doesn't work. I installed the driver from Windows Updates, the graphic card manufacturer and nVidia website. But all do not work. I even change a graphic card (from Eagle to MSI) but it still fails. I install a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro in a new HDD and the game, it fails too. Tried reinstalling Windows, it doesn't help at all! This crashing is getting too irritating. NEED HELP!!!

Computer config:
- AMD Athlon 2000
- 128Mb GeForce 5200fx
- 512 DDR RAM
- Windows XP Pro
