Hi. I'm trying to solve a scanner issue on another board, but have a specific XP question. I know that in Win98 there is a proggie that runs in the background called stimon.exe, which is used for scanners and such. Is this same program supposed to be listed in the running processes in WinXP, or in the list of startup programs?

stimon.exe is only used in win98 and winme.
w2k and xp are using WIA (windows image acquisition), a basic scanner interface which is running as a service (check services.msc) Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

Thanks Tufenuf and Mattie, that helps a lot with my troubleshooting. One step closer to concluding it's the scanner I should be swearing at and not the computer. :)
