when I start up, I get a message RE: ccRegVfy.exe:
"This application has failed to start because SYMSTORE.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." This happened after I tried to install the latest Norton Anti-Virus from disk. My system froze, then I tried to do a system restore, and now I'm getting this message.
how do I re-install? Should I re-install WinXP? And can I do an XP reinstall without having to reload all my programs and files?

Ok, I deleted all the Symantec stuff like RobbieD said in his reply, but on re-boot, I still get the "missing component" message quoted above. How do I reinstall the application? Can I do a base re-install of XP without wiping my drive clean and needing to reinstall all my programs.

Change the bootorder in Bios to be able to boot from your XP-cd.Then when the first Blue screen comes asking u what u want to do choose Install XP,then choose Repair by pressing R from the next Blue screen. Then XP will be installed on top of your existing installation.
