Dear Group:

See post 150930 as reference.

I am still having problems getting Google Earth to run on my PC. I tried the google forums at but no one was able to help me. http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/dosearch.php

I tried uninstalling through add/remove in control panel, then re-install.

I tried scanning for spyware first before reinstalling.

I tried turning off the hardware acceleration and that did not work either.

I have DSL and my firewall is not blocking it.

Google earth will not run on my PC in OpenGL mode or ActiveX mode. When I try to run it the screen goes black.

Please help.

Also I have updated my ATI Rage 128 GL 4X drivers but Google Earth will not run in either mode, ActiveX or OpenGL.

Any suggestions?

I am desparate for help at this point.

Thanks,

wayne

My 'guess' is that your video card does not support the modes it needs. I think that's a pretty old card. But wait for more opinions.

Do yourself a favor BACKUP!!!

Wild guesses to follow unless others have good place to start.
Did you try a 800x640 screen? Set the system to a lower screen resolution maybe.
See the help and support pages for system info and maybe even directx tests?

Wayne,
If you cannot get Google Earth to work, there is another website that does most of the same things. It is local.live.com. I use it all the time to find places and get directions and just seeing satellite views of different places.

Google Earth is a broadband, 3D application that not all computers can run.

Desktop computers older than 4 years old may not be able to run it.

That same page does show the minimum requirements that you do exceed but...see above disclaimer.
