Comment:
i bought a new stick of 128mb sd ram and installed it in to the one open slot on my motherboard. i powered up my computer and no problems with boot but the extra ram does not show up when you look at system in the control panel should it or do i have to reset something it seems to be acting faster but how will i know for sure and nothing is crashing or reacting to the change
Some motherboards are very picky about the type of Ram they use.
To make sure the new Ram is going to work REMOVE all the old Ram. Try to start the unit using only the new 128mg stick.
If the unit boots with that Ram, it will show the new amount correctly. Then insert the old Ram.

1.) Install your new stick 2.) Now boot and enter BIOS on bootup. 3.) Do nothing in the BIOS just F10 to save and exit 4.) Allow your computer to boot normally.
Explanation: Your BIOS also needs to recognise your new RAM and these simple steps will ensure that it does just that.
