status bar disappears in winxp

I mean the windows explorer, not the internet explorer. I switch it on in view/status bar (or what ever it is called in English, I am using the german version of winxp), the next time I open a folder, it disappears again. this sux. could someone point me to a solution how to enable this permanently?

Turn it on, then before you close explorer click on Tools, Folder Options, View, and click "Apply to all folders". Now you can close Explorer and it should save your settings.
