Comment:

A friend of mine sent me a screenshot of her taskmgr because of slow start up time. I noticed that all start up processes were loading twice. This includes all Win processes down to the antivirus programs. Can anyone tell me why this might be happening and what can be done about it? I'm sorry I don't have more info on her system other than she is running XP with 512 ram. Thanks

Patrick

Try start-run-type MSCONFIG-enter-Startup and uncheck all the duplicate entries.

Please post back within 24 hours or I will delete the post from my follow up list. Thanks. It would be a courtesy if you would post back and let us know if the fix worked or not.

patrick,

i would go intot he application loader and see if it is set up in there to load the programs twice for some odd reason......if it isnt i would completely scan the pc for viruses or spyware in safe mode.....if all else fails reformat the pc and install the os again.....
