Hi all
How can I make start-up programs load faster?
Some programs take upto 2mins to load.
I've tried uninstalling them, rebooting, then reinstalling them, then rebooting.
I do weekly maintence/cleaning. The HDD has recently been formated with a clean install of XP + updates. All drivers are up to date, the machince is as new, but before I formated, the start-up programs (which are the same) started quicker.
Any ideas anyone, thanks in advanceThe world is full of willing people, some are willing to work, others are willing to let them; just a thought!

Do you need them all to start with Windows? (use msconfig or startupcpl (ggogle for this freeware) to control the list of starting apps).

Sometimes one just doesn't get as clean a reinstall as the first time. For any # of various reasons. The install didn't come out as planned. It could be that all the temp (called run once) files that were made during the install do not get deleted and cause conflicts. Sometimes the overwritten files just weren't overwritten and so on.
You can try to do a new reforamt/reinstall and see if that doesn't clear up the issues.
Another thing to do is google for "regscrubxp" and "winpatrol" both free.
download the utillities and run them. Regscrub will find any odd registry problems and fix them for you and winpatrol has a good startup manager to stop any unneccessary programs from running. As an additional item:

or

both have excellent information on start-up programs and services that are running on your computer.IN THE MATTERS OF STYLE,

Thanks for the replies
I already use RegScrubXP and Winpatrol as part of my weekly routine, and will try startupcpl nextThe world is full of willing people, some are willing to work, others are willing to let them; just a thought!
