Alright, just the past week I've had this problem: When my computer reboots, it either.
A)Will go through the windows XP Splash screen and almost make it to the login screen, and just reboot and repeat (had it do this up to 3 hours before it worked, only way I could get it to work was by forcing last known working config to work).
B)Go to my video card screen when first rebooted, then the energy* screen, where it lists "Celeron 1533mhz, 256mb ram, Detecting IDE drives..." in condescending order on a dos screen.. and freezes at the IDE drives and my CD drive light flashes.. and the computer freezes there.
Now the problem is, I've never worked with anything like this. I know how to take care of my computer for the most part.. so help me out!

Sounds like hardware prob shawn. i'm no xpert but can give u some pointers.
if u can get into windows goto: System Properties>Adv>Startup Recy>settings>system failure.
uncheck auto restart box first and check "Write event.......log".
u will then get the BSOD with an error msg.
also when u startup listen and count the beeps u here. also indiccates a hardware fault.
that ok for now? try that and let me know.I Will Not Fail !!!

I did that, no difference. I rebooted 15 minutes after you posted that and my computer finally booted up after having to reboot it every time it would go to "Detecting IDE drives...".. and it just finally worked like 3 hours ago.. so it's something I need help with!! Help!=p
