start windows normally

Specs: windows xp, celleron
my desktop is going through a loop where it comes on then goes into the screen saying start normaly/safe mode etc,i have tried all the variations available but then it goes to the windows load page ( the one that has the download bars flashing from left to right )then it goes into sleep mode and starts again. i bought the pc new from pc world with xp pre-instaled so i have no disk.

well it could be alot of things that could cause this first i assume you have been scannig for virsues and spyware and malware perfore so it soinds like you are infected with something you need to do some scans do see first i assume the pc was workink ok before this happen and theen what were you doing before this happened maybe you got infected and you dont no ok so first i need some feedback from you what caused this and what were you doing to cause this ok from what i have read soudnds like you need to adjust the power settings for it not to sleep or hibernate or it really sounds like you are infected whith some nasties that you dont now did you remove a file did you uninstall something what cvaused this if you want mee to help you i need to no what were you doing to cause this because that sounds strange for windows xp

first let me say thanks for trying to help with my problem! no,there were no scans being done. my 15 year old was talking to his school friend when my 5 year old pressed the on/off. when he tried to restart thats when we got the problem. we are only getting the screens that i mentioned previously,but i can get onto info screens by pressing F1,F5, thanks, freddy.
ps, just found out that my son was waiting for a game that he plays on a regular basis to download but not install, (i don't know what you would call this. he goes on their web site and plays the game) the pc was also set to hibernate and not to shut down as we found this helped to get it on quicker.
