Comment:

I have a minor, but annoying problem with my Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop. This model has a variable speed fan in the back of the laptop (near the parellel port) that went bad (loud grinding noises). The laptop wasn't under warranty, so I had a local shop get the part and replace it. They did and the fan works great now, but, when I got the laptop back, bam!, the startup screen was smaller during boot up. The screen is approximately 2" x 2", but only during startup. When it gets to the desktop, it is normal size. The computer runs normally otherwise, but it is just plain irritating to have it be different than before. Is it possible it has something to do with the case being opened, perhaps a security feature? I've checked the BIOS and done everything I can think of, but cannot find a solution. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Lidsavr

Try these:

1. Go to Display Properties > Settings and try changing the resolution.

2. During the startup when the screen is small, hit the keyboard pause key. Then try adjusting the monitor controls.
