I posted this same message a few days ago and so far there have been no replies. I am getting desperate, so here goes again : I have been getting an IE script error message every time I start up the computer. It refers to a URL accessed several weeks ago for a free screensaver (balder.prohosting.com/2coool) after a GOOGLE search. The error, it says, is related to incomplete letters in a particular line. The only way to get rid of it is to click YES /NO (either one) exactly 8 times. If this is not done, Windows will not close down.It is a nuisance but other than that does not seem to cause any other problems. In Internet Options, script debugging is disabled, and the show script error box is unchecked. Can anyone help ? Thanks.

It sound as if there is a shortcut to a web page either in your startup folder or in the registry. The page that is being accessed apparently has some scripting errors. Rather than try to suppress the errors in IE, you need to get rid of whatever is trying to start up when windows starts.
Try using Spybot Search & Destroy or AdAware as it sounds like Spyware to me.

Thanks. I thought that it is that kind of problem, and have run both Spybot and AdAware but they didn't pick up the offending item. I also checked the startup folder and there is nothing there that could be causing it. However I don't know where to start re looking in the registry. Any suggestions ? Thanks again.
