I recently had work done on my PC. Upon reconnecting it, the screen shows the Dell start page, then the Windows XP start page then an error message that says: "Cannot respond to this type of input signal"
I took it to a local shop and it worked on their monitor. The technician said to use F8 at start up, but that is where I'm lost.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Using F8 at Startup gets you into Windows Safe-Mode.
I hold down F8 just before I see the Windows loading screen.

I do not know what the Tech. wants you to do there.

Can you borrow a friends monitor for a test? Your monitor might have a problem switching from alphanumeric mode to graphics mode.
