Specs: Windows XP, 512
My laptop starts normally untill the screen where the windows logo appears , then automatically turns off in a second. I have to manually restart it again and the process just happens to repeat.I have tried to start in SAFE MODE , and other options but to no avail. I also tried to format and install the XP but it does allow me to re-install it as well. It just turns off at the point of installation when it says Starting Windows.

I would run memtest86 for 1 full pass, and then if thats not the issue I would download seatools from seagate (dos) iso and do the long generic test on the hard drive. In both cases, you will have to make a bootable cd from the iso file...then boot to the cd on startup to run diagnostic. Sometimes the bios system has these tests you can run.

I have a run a comprehensive and marked test on my hard drive. It said success. And i have also tried to install Windows from a Bootable CD but to no avail . It starts and then after sometime when the installation is supposed to start, it turns off.
