I recently formatted my packard bell so that i could install XP pro. Everything works fine but the computer will not shut down by itself. When i shut down the computer the screen comes up that says it is now safe to turn off your computer, but nothing happens, that screen just stays there and i have to turn it off by pushing the power button on the computer....and then about 5 minutes after that the copmuter will boot up all by itself....PLEASE HELP, this is really annoying.

I honestly don't have a definite answer to your post.BUT!!,I have a suggestion or two. What it sounds like to me is that you have a hardware problem. It may be you need the latest BIOS update for your board. Also, you could take it down to your local computer shop(not Best Buy or anyplace like that, they'll be no help)and get them to run a full hardware system diagnostic on your computer. My local shop charges $35 for this. This test will reveal any hardware problems you have(and you'll probably get some good advice for free, too!!)
