I was wondering if there is a way to change the color of the start button by editing the registry?? I know about the programs like style builder and the other one that works with that...I dunno if its possible to change the color of the start button in the registry but i do know the registry can do alot of things...I was also wondering if someone could explain what DWORD means? I read an old post where someone was trying to make the start menu faster by changing the value of the string...They were editing menushowdelay to a value of 00000000...But what if the type of string is not in DWORD? Do i have to make a new string with the DWORD value then then rename and delete the old one or what? Just wondering...Any help would be great...Thanks

I did this myself using ResHacker and changing the themes files to achieve the look I wanted, but there is a program out there, that I discovered after I did all my theme editing :-(, called styles XP from TGTSoft which probably will do what you want (I havn't tried it yet). Download it here: "http://www.tgtsoft.com"
If it doesnt do what you want it to do, I will be putting together a little "tutorial" in how I did it (including making the taskbar match the background so that the buttons float over the background :-)). Just post here or E-Mail me and I will let you know when its done, if I ever get round to it.

I agree with El Pollo. I've tried the software from tgtsoft and it is quite easy and you can change your start button color.
