Along with what Chuck 2 has said, If that isn't it and your computer isn't coming back from standby , You could, from device manager and choose to remove the ACPI uniprocessor PC driver, From the Computer and allow it to reinstall , I have done that in order to fix a standby issue myself,

If your mouse and keyboard are the wireless type choose to wake up your computer from standby from a Hotkey, Some BIOS allow this setting in their Menu,

Hope all works out for you ,,

Yes , Device manager>Computer ,, Acpi uniprocessor PC, You could reinstall the drivers ,,, However ,,, Have you been to the microsoft update site recently.? I'd first make sure that all updates are applied,

Was on a 2000 machine when I had looked at remove,,,, Sorry for the confusion....

Yes ,,,roll back driver,, choose to visit the Microsoft windows update site, to reinstall your drivers...reboot... If that doesn't work,,, then ,, the options for your ( bios ) settings ,May have S1 or S3 standby mode, Look at whether they are set to s1 or s3 and try one or the other,,,

The only other option would then be to try ""{ sfc /scannow }"" after which you'll need to revisit the update site and apply all the needed updates...

MSI 845e mb 768 mb ram and a p4 2.4n running xp ,win 2000 advanced server and win 98 SE alot to learn and I know so little !!!!
