Standby mode error!

Hi! I put my system(winXP pro SP2) into standby mode, i came back after 2h and everything was wrong! the HD did not work(not set to turn off), the monitor was closed(this is ok:>), but when i was trying to access my pc nothing happenned, the monitor did not turn on, i restart but nothing, i push the power bytton but nothing, i switched off my monitor but nothing..finally i unplugged!!! what was happenned??? anything bad??

Don't bother with stand by, or hybernation for that matter. Windows has always had problem dealing with these. Nothing but bugs. Ihad an IBM with windows98 and had nothing but problems. Figured it would be different with an HP pavilion and XP...wrong same problems.
