When I change my volume in the bottom right corner of my screen, near my taskbar. I use the mouse to slide the volume bar up and down , when I let go there is a hardware BEEP from my computer each time I do this. This only happens when I use my mouse to drag the volume bar up and down, it never happens when I do it with the scroll button or when I change the volume from the speakers externally. As stated I get a hardware beep, similar to those you get when the PC is rebooting.
The only possible thing Ive installed/uninstalled recently is Star Wars Galaxies Beta. And before that it worked perfectly. That might have been the cause of all of this. Thank you for any assistance you may give on this matter.

Kevin's answer will work, howeveri f you want to fix the problem, all you need to do is assign a value to your "Default Beep" sound in the Sounds control panel applet.
Normally this sound is played when you adjust the sound volume to give you an idea of how loud your volume is, but since you don't have anything assigned to it, Windows just uses the system speaker.
So to fix it open the control panel, then go to your Sounds and Audio devices. On the Sounds tab scroll down to "Default Beep" and choose a sound for it. "Windows XP Ding" is a good one.
Now, just a suggestion, you might want to undo the registry change. Windows was already operating as it should.

Dr. Nick,
The registry change does not cause any problems and I've used it for quite some time. When you are sitting and listening to a MP3 and you adjust the volume you hear a ding as you do so. That is not something I want to hear as I am enjoying my tunes. The simple change to the registry is quick, simple and presents no problems.

Ahhh, I see what you meant. That change does make sense to me now.
I wasn't trying to imply that your solution was incorrect. I just wanted to offer a slightly different one based on what I thought he asked. The question "the system speaker beeps when I adjust the volume" is pretty common here and so I wanted to address it.
