Hi,

A while back, I read an article on spy sweepers. It stated that Clean Sweep, though it takes a bit longer to run, is rated as the preferred and more thorough spy cleaner than Spy sweep or Spybot. I was wondering if anyone has any other opinions on this and if you have other spy removals that you think might work better? I use McAfee for the anti-virus and for the most part, I like it. It seems to do the job for me. I have heard from some that they prefer Norton, though it uses a lot of resources, and some have said they like an anti-virus called AVG. I would appreciate any opinions. I am on a clean install of XP Pro, and want to definitely get a good spy sweeper. I don't mind having to pay for it. Thanks so much for your help.

I use a combination..

AdAware for everday cleaning and monitoring.
Spybot with AdAware if there is a big problem

For anti-virus:
I use AVG anti-virus free edition.. I've been using that for quite a long time and it never missed a virus for me..

Besides, I'm also one of those people that feel that I shouldn't have to pay 40-100 bucks on anti-virus or other software. I'm real big on open source and freeware.. You'll actually find that many of the freeware/opensource tools will do the same if not better job than many paid for tools.

Same here Veets
Adware 6, SpyBot S+D, also found a good Trojon Killer called TDS3, AVG, SpywareBlaster
These are all free, though TDS3 is trialware, and all do a good job at keeping your system free of Baddies
Good Luck

I use TrendMicro--it's free (30 day trial) and does a VERY good job scanning the computer and eliminating viruses. Both the Housecall (a free online scan that DELETES the viruses for free, too) and the trial download edition will suffice. =)

The only `Clean Sweep' that I have heard about is an `uninstaller'. It records every change made to the system when a program is installed, so it can be completely removed when uninstalled.
